Life on this planet exists at the whim of its parent star. The heat produced by the blue supergiant causes extreme weather patterns, and the land masses of III has markedly opposite and devastating wet and dry seasons. Widespread colonisation has been made impossible by these conditions, and most of the populace are nomadic tribes, travelling in search of water in the dry, and safe ground in the wet. These tribes exist at little more than subsistence level, living off the land and good fortune to continue living on this harsh world.

Fortunately, there are a small number of regions of more stable weather patterns, that allow year-round habitation, just. The equatorial regions of the primary continent and its polar ares stand out as desirable locales. Most of these areas are given over to agriculture. Food crops produced include stable grain and sugar seed. When these farms were founded by off world interests, thousands of natives were displaced. Most lacked the survival techniques for the wilds they were pushed into and died within months. Though millennia has passed since these clearances, native folklore revolves around the terrible fate suffered at the hands of the outsiders, and there is some anti-Imperial sentiment to this day.

III also supports a number of mining projects across its surface, though servitors are required for the challenging conditions of many of the sites. The southern deserts are the scene of a century old war between a number of promethium-extraction conglomerates. Prospecting teams have toured the deserts in search of drilling sites since 875.M41, violently defending their wells from their rivals. Local tribes-people acting as guides joined their ranks, and many of the teams became nomadic themselves as they learned the environment they now inhabited. Now groups tour the deserts on bikes, buggies, trucks, mobile drilling platforms, gyro-copters and land trains, living and dying in the saddle as they search for precious promethium
